I’m a HUGE red lip lover. I wear red lipsticks more than I wear nudes, and I feel so confortable in them and love the way they look on me and the confidence they give.
I’ve recently cut down my makeup collection, pretty drastically, and now only own about 10 red lipsticks, so it wasn’t too hard to get it down to my top 5. Now lets begin…
5. Maybelline Color Sensational- 547 Pleasure Me Red
I love this lipstick as it gives such classic vibes. It’s a pure red lip with amazing pigment and deep undertones, but the finish allows it to be very moisturising without looking oily. I was gifted this by my grandparents for christmas a few years back and it’s become a staple in my collection since. It can also be worn down if applied with a lip brush.
You can see the stunning consistancy and finish in this swatch, as well as the deep undertones. This is the perfect red lip if you want to pull of the classic look with good quailty and affordability.
4. Coloured Raine Cosmetics- Cherry Blossom
I’d never used this brand before I was gifted this for christmas by my boyfriend’s lovely sister, and I can’t believe it! This is a bright red liquid lipstick with amazing formula. This is my favourite red liquid lip I’ve ever used as the formula is smooth and consistent, whereas all the other strong reds i’ve used are patchy & wear strange. (Also love the name, one of my favourite Paolo Nutini tracks)
As you can tell from the swatch, this has cooler undertones which I love. This also stays put amazingly! When it does start to come off, it fades evenly which means it’s a perfect lip to wear all day and not have to worry about how it looks. I’m not sure how much this costs as it was a gift but it’s a worthwhile purchase for any liquid lipstick lover.
3. Little Mix by Collection- Leigh Anne
I purchased this when it was first avalible to wear to a little mix concert a few years ago, and I’m so shocked by the amount of wear I’ve had out of it! It’s an absolutly stunning shade with such creamy formula. The reason why it’s my number 3 is because of the condition it leaves your lips in after.. Everytime I wear this my lips are always so soft and moisurised the next day!
A lot of people wouldn’t have purchased this due to the little mix name being attached, but the beauty of the 4 shades you could get and the amazing formula is unlike anything Collection has to offer in their regular range! I picked up a bunch of their products after using these but none of them compared.
2. Rimmel Kate Moss- 107
If you’re a red lipstick lover like me you’ve more than likely already got this in your collection.. It’s the best drugstore red lip out there and deserves every bit of praise and hype it gets. It suits every skintone and has a stunning formula. It’s on the deeper red side, but not enough to be classed as a burgandy or wine red. LOVE.
1. Mac- Ruby Woo
My favourite lipstick of all time, and definitely the best red lip you’ll ever purchase. It’s so worth the little price jump from the drugstore lipsticks! Everyone I’ve leant this too has gone out and purchased their own afterwards. The finish is retro matte, which in some of the other mac shades I find a tad drying and less comfortable than their other finishes, but in this case I’ve never had an issue with it. Even on bad lip days Ruby Woo gives me a flawless finish for that stunning classic red lip look.
